Google’s ( GOOG ) stunning decision to no longer tolerate Chinese censorship of its search engine — and potentially quit the country altogether — sent shock waves around the world on Wednesday and threatened to create a geopolitical row between the United States and China. And amazingly, their bosses apparently caved on their demands after the union turned down a generous offer — and threatened to embarrass the city during the World Series. The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority has agreed to cover almost all of its rising health-care costs, and to increase coverage for Pfizer’s ( PFE ) Viagra and other erectile dysfunction treatments, the Philadelphia Daily News reports. US imposes big tarriffs on Chinese tires, Beijing

Filed under: Economy The Office of the United States Trade Representative announced that it is imposing huge tariffs on Chinese tire imports. This move is certain to cause friction between the two countries. Already, Chinese officials have called the move protectionist and threatened similar penalties on US exports. The International Trade Commission had determined that China had produced products similar to tires made in the US and sold them at prices low enough to force some US plants to close.
