Campbell Soup ( CPB ) reported Monday that its fiscal-first quarter earnings rose 17%, beating Wall Street’s view by a hearty 6 cents a share. True, revenue dipped slightly, but that was more due to difficult year-over-year comparisons and the fact that Campbell rolled out its major soup-season marketing campaign a couple of months early this year. Futures point to lower openings for all three major U.S. stock indexes, with the benchmark Dow Jones industrial average trading below the 10,000 level. Shares of Internet search engine Yahoo! Inc. ( YHOO ) soared in after-hours trading, after the company reported better-than-expected earnings of $186.1 million, or 13 cents a share. A bevy of companies are due to report earnings today, including: American Airlines parent AMR Corp. ( AMR ); eBay Inc . ( EBAY ); Eli Lilly ( LLY ); Boeing Co.
